Junior Ladies
Athlone v Delvin/St. Pauls
Athlone Junior Ladies enjoyed a fourth and final league victory when they accounted for Delvin/St Paul's in Clonmellon on Friday evening. The young Athlone team showed great spirit and skill against strong opponents to book their place in the league decider, which will be scheduled at a later date.

Athlone dominated the opening exchanges but couldn't convert their chances.  However, on the back of strong performances from Katie Henshaw in centre field and Lorna Mulvihill at centre forward.  Athlone kept the pressure on and scores from Emily Henshaw and Aoife Gill meant that Athlone went in ahead at the break.
Athlone began the second half as they finished the first and an early brace of goals from Aoife Gill stretched their lead.  This gave Athlone the breathing space they required and they controlled the rest of the second half to run out convincing winners on a scoreline of Athlone 7-14 Delvin/St Paul's 2-9.

Overall this was an effective performance from Athlone against a Delvin/St Paul's side who kept fighting until the end.  It was especially encouraging  to see some of the younger Athlone players such as Kasey O'Neill and Rachel Barrington put in strong displays in defence, while Niamh Byrne and Chloe Moran were really positive up front.
