Minor Club Championship Semi Final
Athlone 1-10 Caulry 2-6
Athlone Minors qualified for the Club Championship Final with a narrow one point win over Caulry in Moate on Sunday evening.  Athlone, playing against the breeze in the first half, were deserving 1-5 to 1-2 leaders, having taken their chances well including a goal from Aiden Byrne, two points from Richie Greene and points from each of Ray Connellan, Jordan Marshment and Sam Omokoro.   At half time, it looked as though Athlone only had to continue with their ploy of playing direct ball into the full forward line to go on to victory.   Athlone started the second half well with three excellent points from Ray Connellan but Caulry immediately responded with a well taken goal followed quickly by a point to put Caulry into the lead with 15 minutes to go.  A well taken point from Charlie McMickan followed by a pointed free from Seamus Byrne steadied the ship and Athlone held out for the narrowest of victories.

Darren Cassidy was rock solid in goal while    Seamus Byrne  Jordan Marshment and Aiden Byrne always looked dangerous .  Matthew Darling and Luke Dully stood out in defence .

Athlone await the winners of Moate and Rosemount in the other half of the draw. The Final is scheduled for Cusack Park  as a prelude to the Senior Championship Final
