ACFL Div 4
Athlone 4-12 Caulry 4-21
A stunning first half scoring spree from Caulry, which saw them score an amazing 3-14 from play, condemned Athlone to a defeat that leaves their future in Division 4 in the balance.  This was an extraordinary game in which all of the visitors' 4-21 came from play, while 4-1 of Athlone's total of 4-12 (which would've won any other game they played this season) came from the two goalkeepers we used on the night.  Athlone now need to win their final game league match against Castledaly to have any chance of avoiding a return to Division 5.

Athlone:  Conor Devaney (1-0), Jack Ruane, Tom Egan, Shane Galvin, Eoin Jordan, Andy Lynam, Kieran Rigney, Aidan St John, Danny Reid (0-1), Tadhg Prendergast, Joe Fallon (0-1), Eoin Fahey, Darren Costello (3-1), Mickey Greene (0-1), Richie Greene (0-8) Subs Used:  Benjy Bannon.

Lip Sync Battle
The pre-launch of Athlone GAA's 'Lip Sync Battle' fundraiser took place in the Clubhouse Bar last Friday evening with a wine and cheese reception and a great night was had by all. This fundraising event will take place in the Sheraton Hotel Athlone on Saturday 3rd September at 8pm and tickets are now on sale.  Rehearsals have now begun but anyone who wishes to help out in any way please contact any of the Committee Members, see or Athlone GAA Facebook for more details.

Congratulations to the Westmeath Senior Footballers, especially the Athlone GAA representatives on the panel -   John Connellan, Ray Connellan, John Egan and Noel Mulligan, on defeating Kildare and qualifying for the Leinster Final for the second year in a row.  Congratulations also the Westmeath Ladies Senior team who also qualified for the Leinster Final for the second year in a row.

Commiserations to the Westmeath Ladies U16 team, which featured Athlone's Aoife Temple, Brionna Geoghegan and Grace Halligan, who lost the Leinster U16 B Final by a mere point on Sunday.
