Launch of Lip Sync Battles - Rescheduled to Friday, 12th August
Athlone GAA Club will be holding our inaugural “Lip Sync Battles” show on Saturday 3rd September in the Sheraton Hotel to raise funds for the Club. Approximately 15 acts from across the Club will be performing and it promises to be a great night's entertainment. The official launch of "Lip Sync Battles" will take place in the Clubhouse on Friday 12th August at 7.30 with a wine and cheese reception and everybody is welcome. Tickets will also be on sale on Friday from any Committee Member or contact Cora O Rourke at 086 8132090, Teresa Small at 087 6799472 or Dympna Cunniffe at 087 3177255.

U12 Girls Division 1 Championship:
Athlone U12 Girls at home Vs Ballycomoyle: 26-July-2016
Playing with the breeze, Athlone got off to a good start with a Goal from Ava Martin and a point from Katie Dwyer. Ballycomoyle replied with a three points before Athlone added another Goal from Lucy Brett and two points from Kate Mannion. Ballycomoyle responded with a goal and a point, before Athlone added a great Goal and a point form Leah Nugent leaving the score 3-04 to 1-04 to Athlone at the break.
In the 2nd half Ballycomoyle came back strong to outscore Athlone by two goals and a point, despite some great defending in particular from Aine Di Tullio. In the end Ballycomoyle won by a single point. Overall it was very good team performance.

U12 Girls Division 1 Championship:
Athlone U12 Girls away to Goldsmith Girls: 28-July-2016
Missing a few regular players, and only two days after the game against Ballycomoyle, Athlone U12 Girls travelled to Tang to play Goldsmith Girls.
Playing with the breeze the Goldsmith Girls got off to a great start and built up a sizeable lead by half time.
Athlone fought back bravely in the 2nd half with an outstanding performance in particular from Leah Nugent, but despite their best efforts, Athlone were unable to contain Goldsmith Girls who ran out comfortable winners in the end.
