Club Notes - Monday, 10th April

Sean Dempsey RIP
The death has occurred in Mullingar of former Athlone player, Sean Dempsey.  A very pacy and stylish forward, Sean was a member of our six in a row team from 1955 to 1960, with the two brilliant points he scored just before half time in the ‘58 final still fondly remembered by the older members of the club.
Even after moving to Mullingar, Sean retained his love for the club, which is reflected by the fact that three generations of his family - his daughter Sandra Costello, grandsons Darren and Glen, and now great-grandson Jack, are active members of the club.  Everybody in Athlone GAA club offers our condolences to the Costello Family, Athlone and the Dempsey family, Mullingar, on the death of Sean.

Congratulations to the Westmeath Senior Football team who won the Allianz League Division 4 final by defeating Wexford in Croke Park, especially to the Athlone GAA players on the panel - Noel Mulligan, John Egan, John Connellan, Alan Gaughan and Jordan Marshment.
